The Z300, the latest addition to the Z Series line-up, is a stylish entry-level model for Europe, or a larger-displacement alternative to the Z250. Its aggressive Supernaked design is inspired by larger models from the popular Z Series, the Z1000 and Z800. Muscular bodywork hints at the bike’s performance, while ensuring that the Z300 stands out from the crowd. And the superb level of fit and finish further separates it from ordinary “naked” models. Sharing the high-performance engine and chassis of the acclaimed Ninja 300, the Z300 offers the acceleration and handling to dominate the 250cc class. Its powerful 296 cm3 Parallel Twin engine and circuit-developed frame deliver a high level of riding excitement. Coupled with a relaxed, upright riding position and wide handlebar enabling active rider control, urban riding excitement increases exponentially. In both looks and performance, the Z300 has what it takes to get noticed.
Inspired by the Supernaked image of its Z Series brethren, the Z300 also features a “mass-forward, minimalist-tail” design. Its muscular, athletic bodywork hints at the bike’s performance, while accentuating the engine and curved exhaust headers. Aggressive-looking whether on the move or standing still, the Z300 has a big-bike presence and an instantly recognisable silhouette that says, at-a-glance, that this is no ordinary “naked” bike.
Compact headlamp cowl with mini meter visor is one of the key styling elements of the Z300’s aggressive design. Multi-reflector headlamp from the Z800 reinforces the strong family resemblance. Adding to the aggressive Supernaked design, the fuel tank is flared at the top edges and slants forward. The flared design enables a large 17 litre fuel capacity. Cruising range is on par with large-displacement models.
Designed for rider-friendly response, the Z300’s fuel-injected Parallel Twin engine delivers smooth, responsive torque at low and medium rpm, and hard-hitting acceleration at high rpm. Displacing 296 cm3, the engine offers significantly stronger torque and power at all rpm, putting the Z300 in a class of its own. Like the Ninja 300, the engine is fitted with a sleeveless, plated, die-cast aluminium cylinder, lightweight coated pistons, and numerous features to ensure Kawasaki’s famous reliability. With the same sporty engine performance found on the Ninja 300, one twist of the throttle will clearly distinguish the Z300 from lesser naked models.
All Z300 models are fuel-injected. This ensures stable fuel delivery regardless of temperature or air pressure, as well as excellent starting characteristics. Similar to our Ninja supersport models, dual throttle valves give precise control of intake air, resulting in linear throttle response across the rpm range. Dual throttle valves also contribute to high performance, good combustion efficiency, and favourable fuel consumption. The main throttle valves are ø32 mm in diameter, but sub-throttle valves measure ø40.2 mm to help flow a greater volume of air, which allows the engine to pull strongly right to the rev limit. Thai models are fitted with an Evaporative Emission Control System to ensure emissions regulations are met.
